Welcome to Bethany Presbyterian Church!
Scripture Reading: Philippians 2:12-18 //
Sermon: "Let's Rap" from Pastor Daniel Park //
Last week, we read Paul encouraging the Christians in Philippi. He knew that the members there had issues with selfishness, arrogance, and conceitedness. If they continued to be inconsiderate to others, the church would fall. Paul truly loved them. What does he preach? He reminds them of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. There's no advice to give. Paul knows the power of the Gospel, that Christ alone will save, and tells them if "there is any encouragement in Christ, any comfort from love, any participation in the Spirit, any affection and sympathy, complete my joy by being of the same mind, having the same love, being in full accord and of one mind" (Phil. 2:1-2). He addresses the church, yes, but what about the individual?
Read Phil. 2:12-13: "Therefore, my beloved, as you have always obeyed, so now, not only as in my presence but much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling, for it is God who works in you, both to will and to work for his good pleasure." Believers, know that God is working in your heart, too. Your own salvation is being worked out -- which is God's doing for his glory. As Impact Ministry, are we so concerned with others' faiths that we neglect our own? We should stop blaming others for our faiths. God is working in each heart in every moment.
Paul addresses both - the Church (corporate) and the church (self)- to hold fast onto the word of life: the Bible. We need to "rap" - that is an acronym - for Read and Pray!
Please read your Bibles and pray, hold fast onto the word. And let's not run in vain, but let's rejoice as we grow in the knowledge of the mystery of the gospel daily.
Thank you for stopping by!
Love in Christ,
